Doug Lawson Ph.D. Chief Executive Officer, St. Luke's Health, and Senior Vice President of Operations Texas Division, CommonSpirit Health

Lawson began his healthcare career at Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic in Temple, Texas, and served in Kansas City with Saint Luke’s Health System and later in Huntington, West Virginia, for Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Following these leadership roles, Lawson returned to Texas and became President of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine and was asked to serve as President of the organization’s North Texas Central Region and Baylor University Medical Center in 2015 before accepting his current role with CommonSpirit Health in 2018.

Lawson is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He went on to complete a Master of Science degree in healthcare administration at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and a doctorate in philosophy from Dallas Baptist University. Lawson is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Lorie Shoemaker Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President CHI Texas Division

Prior to joining the CHI Texas Division, Shoemaker served in a variety of leadership roles over a 29-year career at Palomar Health in San Diego, California, including the System Chief Nurse Executive from 2004 to 2014. In this role, Shoemaker provided oversight for nursing care across the system, which included three acute care hospitals and two skilled nursing facilities, as well as ambulatory and home health agencies.

Under Shoemaker’s leadership, the entire health system received Magnet® recognition in 2009, making Palomar Health the first public health system in California to achieve this honor. Most recently, Shoemaker served as the President of Palomar Medical Center, the new, state-of-the art facility that she helped design and operationalize in 2012.

Her work in the area of hospital design led to her appointment with the California Hospital Association’s Joint Committee on Accreditation and Licensing, with an emphasis on changing California regulations to support the widespread adoption and utilization of evidence-based design concepts in healthcare.

Shoemaker holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and a Doctor of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is an alumna of the 2004 Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives. In 2005, she obtained certification in Advanced Nursing Administration from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Elizabeth Youngblood Chief Operating Officer and Division Senior Vice President CHI Texas Division

In this role, Liz is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the CHI Texas Division’s hospitals, including managing to defined metrics to achieve clinical, operational and financial excellence; ensuring alignment and implementation of a high quality, cost-effective integrated health care delivery system and integrating the system’s strategic plan into operations.

Liz has over 20 years of leadership experience working in for profit, academic and nonprofit health systems, most recently serving as the CEO of the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s adult hospitals and clinics.
 
Liz’s strengths include hospital and health care system strategic planning and strategy implementation, organizational growth and business development, population health management, health system and hospital operations, clinical service lines, medical staff engagement, patient and workforce engagement and operational and process excellence.
A registered nurse, Liz received her diploma of nursing from Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in general studies from West Texas A&M University and her MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Liz is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

She has served on multiple community, business and state boards, including the Mississippi Hospital Association Board and Legislative Committee, the SMU Cox School of Business Alumni Board and is past chairman of the board of directors for the Quality Texas Foundation. Liz has been named a Top 50 Leading Business Woman by the Mississippi Business Journal and has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumna by the SMU Cox School of Business.

Paul Arrington Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President CHI Texas Division

Bradley Lembcke, MD Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President CHI Texas Division

Dr. Lembcke served as BUMC Chief of Staff for 3 years and was Chief Medical Officer from 2013-8. He also helped start and grow an accountable care organization and later served as the Chair of the Quality Alliance Board. He has extensive experience in Medical Staff Affairs, Peer Review, CMS and Joint Commission regulatory standards, and documentation integrity.

Dr. Brad Lembcke was born in Houston, Texas and attended Texas A&M University graduating in 1990 with a B.S. Biochemistry. He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in Houston, TX, graduating with honors in 1994. After a one year internship in Internal Medicine in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Lembcke completed his Internal Medicine training at UTSW/Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX in 1997. In 2011, Dr. Lembcke attended the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University where he graduated with honors with a Masters of Business Administration and he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Lembcke married Megan Mitchell in 2000 and they have 3 beautiful children, Thomas age 16, Rebecca age 15, and Sam age 1
