According to the American Heart Association, coronary disease is the leading cause of death in America for both men and women.  Worldwide, it is estimated that 7 million people die each year of heart disease.  To meet our community’s ever-changing healthcare needs, St. Luke's Health Brazosport offers high-quality cardiac care services close to home.

Our Cardiac Care Center offers a wide range of services to adults and geriatrics including:

Stress Testing

Stress testing provides information about how your heart works during physical stress. Some heart problems are easier to diagnose when your heart is working hard and beating fast. During the test, you will walk on a treadmill to monitor the electrical activity of your heart and measure your blood pressure during exercise.

Color Doppler Echocardiograms

Echocardiography (or Echo) is a diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to create an image of the heart muscle. An Echo may show such abnormalities as poorly functioning heart valves or damage to the heart tissue from a past heart attack. The test is completed to diagnose certain cardiovascular diseases such as:

  • Coronary Heart Disease (CAD)
  • Aneurysms
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Congenital Heart Disease
  • Heart Failure
  • Pericarditis
  • Valvular Heart Disease

Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac Cath is a procedure used to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. During the procedure, a long thin tube called a catheter is inserted in an artery or vein in your groin, neck or arm and threaded through your blood vessels to your heart. The cardiac cath is a test to check your heart including:

  • Blood flow in the coronary arteries
  • Blood flow and blood pressure in the chambers of the heart
  • Find out how well the heart valves work
  • Check for defects in the way the wall of the heart moves

Endovascular Procedures

Endovascular procedures is a technique performed inside a blood vessel or artery. The minimally invasive surgeries include:

  • Balloon Angioplasty
  • Stent Placement
  • Atherectomy

EKG

EKG is an abbreviation for electrocardiogram and is a test that measures and records the electrical activity of the heartbeat.  The test is used to detect and locate the source of heart problems.  The St. Luke's Health Brazosport EKG unit includes:

  • Holter monitoring
  • Pacemaker checks
  • Event monitors

Being able to provide high-tech cardiac services, close to home, is essential in saving the lives of our community members who are affected by heart-related healthcare medical conditions. Our entire team is focused on providing first-class healthcare services right here in Lake Jackson.
