Reverend Deborah Whisnand

Rev. Deborah Whisnand joined the Clinical Pastoral Education faculty in 2015. A UCC minister, she has served in hospital ministry and chaplaincy education for more than 31 years. She has managed CPE programs in Houston and San Antonio and supervised CPE chaplains for the U.S. Army and Air Force. Her experience includes bioethics consultation, as well as professional association and nonprofit administration. Originally from West Texas, she holds a B.A. from Texas Tech University, an M.A. from Rice University, and a Th.M. from Harvard Divinity School.

Reverend Biser Ovcharov

Rev. Biser Ovcharov is an ordained Baptist minister in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He was certified by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education as an ACPE Certified Educator in November 2019. He completed his CPE Residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and Methodist Health System and his educatory education at Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas. Biser is a graduate of Spurgeon’s College, London, with a Master of Divinity and of Dallas Baptist University with a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Prior to his chaplaincy career, he served as a youth minister and pastor in his country of origin, Bulgaria.

Reverend José Cedillo

Rev. José Cedillo is ordained with the Church of God (Cleveland Tennessee), a board certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains, and a Certified Educator with ACPE. He was a CPE Resident, staff Chaplain, and a Supervisory Education Student, before becoming manager of CPE programs at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for a total of 16 years. After a two year tenure as the Director of Pastoral Care at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, José joined CHI Baylor St. Luke’s in October of 2018, as a part of the faculty.
