Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Appoints Todd Rosengart, MD, to Hospital Board of Directors

Houston, TX (October 23, 2017) – Todd K. Rosengart, MD, has been appointed to the Baylor St. Luke&'s Medical Center (Baylor St. Luke&'s) Board of Directors. Dr. Rosengart is currently professor and chair of surgery at the Michael DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and holds the DeBakey-Bard chair of surgery. A champion for cardiovascular health, Dr. Rosengart&'s expertise will support the hospital&'s continued success and vision in providing world class care to patients. “I am proud to serve as the newest member of the Baylor St. Luke&'s Board, a group of diverse individuals committed to ensuring that the rich history and legacy of both Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke&'s are preserved and expanded, ” said Dr. Rosengart. “I look forward to representing my colleagues and patients by joining a board focused on creating healthier communities locally, nationally, and internationally.” Dr. Rosengart serves as national chairman of the Catholic Health Initiatives Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Standards Committee with oversight of cardiovascular surgery activities for 20 Catholic Health member institutions performing cardiac surgery. Amongst numerous other institutional roles, he is board chairman of the Affiliated Medical Services, a 1,000-provider medical services consortium of Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas faculty for the Harris Health county medical system, and vice-chair for the Baylor College of Medicine Faculty Group Practice, overseeing the 350-provider private clinical faculty professional group. “We feel extremely fortunate to have Dr. Rosengart join our Board,” said Gay Nord, market president, Baylor St. Luke&'s. “He is an excellent addition to the Board as he brings extensive experience and insight that will effectively support and further the academic and clinical relationship between Baylor St. Luke&'s and Baylor College of Medicine.” Prior to joining the faculty and medical staff of Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke&'s, Dr. Rosengart was professor and chairman of the Department of Surgery and chief of cardiothoracic surgery at SUNY-Stony Brook, and co-director of The Stony Brook University Medical Center Heart Center. He was previously the inaugural Owen L. Coon chair of cardiothoracic surgery at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and professor of surgery at Northwestern University. Additionally, Dr. Rosengart was associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical College and associate attending cardiothoracic surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
