St. Luke’s Health Memorial helping all children safely get to school

Posted in:

Whether your children walk, bike or ride to school, their safety is paramount. St. Luke’s Health Memorial is partnering with Kmart in Lufkin to sponsor a Child Safety and Injury Prevention Fair on Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The hospital is uniting several community groups and organizations in an effort to help get our children to school safely.

The block party-style safety event will be fun for everyone, and the St. Luke’s Health encourages families of all ages to attend.

St. Luke’s Health Memorial will have an education booth providing lifesaving information from the Emergency department, Diabetes Education Center, Heart & Stroke department and Women Services department. Free Body Mass Index (BMI) and Blood Pressure checks will also be available.

Lufkin ISD Transportation will have school bus safety tours on-site and the City of Lufkin will have school zone crossing maps available.

Several law enforcement agencies will be on hand to answer any questions. They will provide bicycle and car seat safety checks and information about sidewalk and traffic safety.

Lufkin Fire and Rescue along with local emergency medical services, Texas Department of Transportation, Lufkin Community Partners, Harold’s House, Family Crisis Center of East Texas, Texas Game Warden, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, Bricks 4 Kidz and the Chick Fil A cow mascot will also be there.

There will be a drawing for a free bike along with other prizes, games and free giveaways.
