St. Luke's Health (St. Luke’s) has named Michael J. McBride, FACHE, as its President of Suburban Hospitals, effective November 9, 2015. In this role, he will focus on St. Luke’s six suburban hospitals (The Woodlands, Lakeside, Sugar Land, Patients Medical Center, The Vintage, Springwoods Village) by working with each hospital’s leadership team to advance strategic initiatives and improve operational efficiencies.

With more than 25 years of healthcare administration experience, McBride joins St. Luke’s from SCL Health, where he served as President and CEO of St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.

“Mike’s extensive background in hospital administration, paired with his extensive experience working with Catholic healthcare systems will be very beneficial to us,” said Michael H. Covert, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer, St. Luke’s. “His passion for community-based healthcare will strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality healthcare in the communities we serve.”

Prior to SCL Health, McBride served eight years with CHRISTUS Health in San Antonio in a number of operational roles of increasing responsibility, ultimately as Regional Vice President with multiple hospital accountabilities.

“CHI St. Luke’s is expanding throughout Greater Houston and Texas,” said McBride. “I look forward to playing a role in advancing our operations across the system, as well as returning to Texas.”

McBride earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in Waco, TX, and a Master of Science from Trinity University in San Antonio. He also completed an Administrative Residency at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.
