Community Invited to Health Fair at Lufkin Fire Station #3

Posted in:

Knowledge and prevention are the first steps towards a healthy lifestyle.  With this in mind, Memorial Medical Center – Lufkin will be teaming up with several local agencies to offer a free community health fair at Lufkin Fire Station #3 on Friday, June 21, 8 am until 11 am.

“We want to provide the community not only with great health care through the hospital, but to also provide education and screening to prevent major health problems down the road,” said Sabrina Lillard, Community Educator for Stroke Heart & Vascular Initiatives at Memorial and health fair organizer.  “The information that the community will be able to receive at this event will allow them to help themselves and others as well!”

Participants will learn valuable information on fire safety, diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular disease, breast health information, water safety and poison control.  There will be height, weight, and BMI checks as well as blood pressure checks.  The Angelina Cities and Health District will provide information on services they provide.  The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council will also be on hand with information for the public.

The community is invited to take part in this free health fair.  Participants will also be eligible for door prizes.
