Livingston Power of Pink! October 15

Posted in:

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 15 for the 2nd annual Power of Pink! luncheon, hosted by Memorial Medical Center – Livingston and the Believers Relay for Life Team.  The event will be held at Livingston’s Polk County Commerce Center, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and went on sale September 9 at My Place Eatery in Livingston.

This year’s luncheon features nationally recognized humorist and motivational speaker Sally Baskey.  Power of Pink! welcomes Mrs. Baskey back to the Livingston to share her most recent life stories and experiences, which she entitles,  “Reflections on Life from the Back of a Harley!”  Mrs. Baskey will talk about trust, missed opportunities, being “in the moment,” life’s unexpected detours, how to read the warning signs and more.

Power of Pink! is designed to educate women about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer while encouraging them to take care of their bodies through monthly self exams and annual mammograms. “In our second year for the event, we hope to grow to almost 400 attendees,” said Lindsey Mott, Community Relations Specialist at Memorial Health System of East Texas and Power of Pink! Coordinator.  “It is our goal to create awareness about breast cancer, early detection and treatment.”

The event will also host the 5th Annual Art Bra Exhibit.  Memorial Health System of East Texas and Abeldt’s Gaslight Pharmacy have once again teamed up to present the Art Bra Contest in conjunction with Power of Pink! Community members are encouraged to decorate bras in memory or in honor of someone they know who has fought breast cancer or just to support the cause.  The decorated bras will be judged and displayed at the luncheon.  Rules and entry forms can be picked up at Memorial Medical Center – Livingston, the Polk County Chamber of Commerce, My Place Eatery or online at https://www.memorialhealth.org. For more information on the Art Bra Contest please contact Lindsey Mott at 936-639-7613.

“Each year the art bra entries are amazing!  From bras decorated with feathers and rhinestones to bras adorned with candy and Christmas lights, there is no end to the creativity we see!” Said Ms. Mott. “It is always fun to see what community members will come up with next.”  Decorated bras entered in the contest are judged by celebrity judges as well as online by the community to award Top Bra and People’s Choice.  The winning bras are modeled by celebrity models at the luncheon while all bras are on display.

With the support of sponsors such as Petalz, The Main Event, Brookshire Brothers, Sam Houston Electric, Community Title Company, Ralph K. Jenke, DDS and Associates, Zelesky Law Firm and many more, the Power of Pink! continues to reach women in the community spreading the message of hope and encouragement.  This year close to 400 women are expected to attend.

Tickets are sold on a “first come, first serve” basis.  Tables of 8 can be reserved with a $200 table sponsorship.  For more information on the Power of Pink!, how to be a sponsor, or how you can become involved contact Lindsey Mott at 936-639-7613 or [email protected].  Information also can be found at https://www.memorialhealth.org or on Facebook group Power of Pink Livingston.
