Memorial Welcomes New Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon

Memorial Health System of East Texas continues to celebrate local advancements in cardiothoracic and vascular care.  David Ladden, M.D., a board certified
cardiovascular and vascular surgeon with more than 20 years experience in the field, is relocating to Lufkin and will serve as the medical director of the hospital’s heart and vascular program.

“We are excited about Dr. Ladden’s arrival to East Texas,” said Bryant Krenek, President & CEO of Memorial Health System of East Texas.  “Dr. Ladden has performed some of the most complicated cardiothoracic and vascular procedures and will now be able to share his expertise and skills with those needing medical care in our area.”

Dr. Ladden comes to East Texas from McComb, Mississippi where he was the Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Services at the Cardiovascular Institute of Mississippi.  He also served as the Chief of Surgery for Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.  In addition to Mississippi, Dr. Ladden’s career has taken him to Austin, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

Dr. Ladden earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.  After completing medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1984, Dr. Ladden was trained at the Baylor College of Medicine under the tutelage of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey.  After finishing his surgical education in Houston, Dr. Ladden completed his cardiovascular and thoracic surgical training at the University of Miami in 1991.  

Professional Associations include the American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Angiology, The American Medical Association, The Society of Thoracic Surgical Association, and the Southern Medical Association.

Dr. Ladden’s practice includes all fields of cardiac thoracic and vascular surgery, including vein surgery.
His office is located at 1105 West Frank Street, Suite 210 inside Memorial’s Medical Arts Pavilion.  Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most major insurance accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid.  To schedule an appointment, please call 936-631-6777. 

Dr. Ladden and his wife, Shelly, have four children, Justin, Matthew, Sara and Levi.  The Ladden Family will reside in Lufkin.
