SFA Graduate Returns to Lufkin and Opens Medical Practice

Posted in:

A new Family Practice physician, who began her career close to home at Stephen F. Austin State University, has joined the medical staff at Memorial Health System of East Texas.  Dr. Amy Schochler is one of Lufkin’s newest physicians—bringing ten years of urgent care and family practice medical experience to the area.

A member of the American Board of Family Practice and American Academy of Physicians, Dr. Schochler earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medical Degree from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center.  She trained at the University of Wyoming Family Practice Residency Program at Cheyenne before working at Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics as a Family Practice Physician in Idaho.

“We are delighted that Dr. Schochler has chosen to return to East Texas,” said Bryant Krenek, President & CEO of Memorial Health System of East Texas.  “Many existing physician practices are full and cannot accept new patients, leaving many patients without a general medicine doctor. Dr. Schochler will help care for those patients as she opens her practice September 1.”

Dr. Schochler’s office is currently accepting new adult and pediatric patients. Most insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.  To schedule an appointment call 936-631-6771.  Dr.  Schochler’s office is located in Memorial’s Medical Arts Pavilion at 1105 West Frank Street, Suite 240, Lufkin.

Dr. Schochler and her husband Scott, who is a track coach and teacher at Diboll Independent School District, reside in Diboll along with their children Vivian and Leahla.
