St. Luke’s Health Names New Houston Market President

HOUSTON, TX (November 20, 2024) - St. Luke’s Health, a member of CommonSpirit Health, is pleased to announce that Michael S. Lawson, MBA has been named Houston Market President, effective December 30, 2024.

In this role Michael will provide administrative leadership and direction for all operations and business entities of St. Luke’s eight hospitals in Greater Houston, including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, the system’s flagship academic medical institution in the Texas Medical Center.

Michael served since 2009 in various capacities at OhioHealth System, most recently as President of OhioHealth's Grant Medical Center hospital. OhioHealth is an integrated $7 billion hospital health care delivery system with a health plan and more than 320,000 covered individuals. Before joining OhioHealth Michael spent 24 years with Cleveland Clinic in multiple leadership roles.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts at Baldwin College, an MBA at Cleveland State University and completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Leadership Development program. He has published several articles and three books focusing on strategic leadership.

Doug Lawson served as President of St. Luke’s from 2018 until moving into the role of South Region President of CommonSpirit in 2023. Matt Brown, Senior Vice President, Operations/Transformation at CommonSpirit, served as Interim Houston Market President during the recruitment process.
