U.S. News and World Report Names Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Among Best Hospitals

Hospital Ranked #2 in Houston and #4 in Texas

HOUSTON, TX (August 8, 2017 — Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (Baylor St. Luke's) has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2017-18 according to U.S. News & World Report, including second in Houston and fourth in Texas. The hospital's Cardiology and Heart Surgery program—in partnership with the Texas Heart® Institute—is ranked in the top 25 nationwide, and the Neurology and Neurosurgery service line is ranked as one of the top 40 nationwide. The hospital received High Performing Hospital rankings across 12 service lines, procedures, and conditions, including:

These rankings are based on critical health elements, including patient survival and safety, hospital reputation and care-related factors.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 28th year, are part of U.S. News' patient portal, designed to help patients make informed decisions about where to receive care for life-threatening conditions or for common elective procedures. “Our world-class physicians, cutting-edge technological advancements, and commitment to the highest quality patient care have been the pillars in making Baylor St. Luke's an award-winning hospital year after year,” said Gay Nord, Market President, of Baylor St. Luke's. “This prestigious recognition reflects the hard work and dedication provided by our physicians and staff, and further demonstrates their commitment to our patients and our community.” For the 2017-18 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. Of the 16 specialty areas, only 152 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.
