Severe Weather Updates for Employees
We continue to monitor Hurricane Laura. The Division Incident Command team has led preparations for Hurricane Laura across the division with specific attention to facilities in our East Texas market.
Status of Hurricane Laura
As Hurricane Laura continues to move north, our Division Incident Command has met to catalog any damages and address any concerns that arose overnight.
It appears that Hurricane Laura has had minimal impact on our ministry. For the most part, our facilities saw very little impact, and most didn’t even receive rain. Our East Texas market continues to feel the effects of Hurricane Laura. Livingston and San Augustine facilities switched to emergency power before the storm arrived in order to eliminate the possibility of any minor outages. Lufkin has experienced heavy storms but is reporting no flooding or damages. Livingston has experienced little impact from the wind and rain. Our San Augustine facility has been the hardest hit and is still experiencing heavy winds and rains but has reported no flooding or damage.
Hospital Presidents report that they plan to stand down incident command, return to regular staffing, and resume regularly scheduled elective procedures starting today with the exception of the Memorial Market that will be resuming these tomorrow morning.
Thank you all for your diligence and participation during this weather event. Each hospital will be conducting an after action review of our response to Hurricane Laura, so if you have any feedback on what we did well and what we can do to improve, please be sure to share it with your supervisor or your facility’s Emergency Management leader.
