Benefits of Breastfeeding

Reduces risks of ovarian cancer Help protect against respiratory infection
Reduces risks of Type II Diabetes Less likely to be overweight later in childhood
Lowers risks of osteoporosis later in life Less likely to have Type II Diabetes
Aides in weight loss Reduces the risks of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
Helps uterus return to pre-pregnancy size Reduces the risk of ear infections

Skin-to-skin

We honor the Golden Hour and place baby skin-to-skin immediately following birth until completion of the first feeding. Our team of registered nurses at the Family Birthing Center are trained to be your first line of help with breastfeeding. At times, complex breastfeeding issues may arise and our Lactation Consultants are available 7 days a week to assist you

Breastfeeding Support Services

  • Inpatient Lactation Consultations 5 days a week
  • Monthly Breastfeeding Classes
  • Weekly Breastfeeding Support Group (Wednesday @ 10:00)

  • Saturday & Sunday 11:00 a.m.—6:00 p.m
