The Heart of a Champion: Aortic Repair

Dr. Joseph Coselli and his team are using advanced techniques to fight heart disease in the 21st century and beyond. Dr. Coselli is an innovator and a leader in his field and he is highly experienced in complex aortic repair, such as repair performed in patients with connective tissue disorders (like Marfan and Loeys-Dietz syndromes), as well as emergent repair performed in patients with conditions such as acute aortic dissection or aortic rupture. The type of surgery Dr. Coselli excels in has even been performed on Olympic athletes with Marfan Syndrome who, because of treatment, have been able to accomplish great things.

The work Dr. Coselli and his team at St. Luke’s Health–Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center have done to improve the process of aortic repair has resulted in better patient outcomes than those achieved in previous eras. They aren’t just finding new ways to treat cardiovascular illness; they’re finding ways to prevent it for future generations.
