Become a volunteer

  • Submit an application: You may pick up an application at the hospital Welcome Desk or download a volunteer application and follow the instructions to apply. Volunteers must be 17 years or older.
  • Commitment: Volunteers must be willing to commit to at least a quarter of the year, or one semester of service and volunteer at least one four-hour shift per week (Monday through Friday).
  • Interview: You will be contacted by phone to schedule an interview. The interview, your interests, and availability will determine placement options.
  • Health Screening: Following the interview, we will schedule a health screening with the Occupational Health Nurse. This screening includes a medical health review and tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Orientation: Attendance is required for an orientation session that is approximately two hours.
  • Assignment & Training: After orientation, the Volunteer Coordinator will visit with new volunteers about assignments and training.

Volunteer program applications

Junior volunteer program

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS MAY 12TH, 2023.

  • If you are age 16, 17, or 18, and available to volunteer during the eight weeks from June 19th through August 18th, 2023  please complete this application form in total. 
  • All Junior Volunteers must be at least 16 years old as of June 1, 2023 and entering at least the 11th grade in Fall 2023. 
  • If selected for the program, you will be expected to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours during these weeks.  The application process includes an in-person or virtual interview. 
  • If you are traveling this summer during these dates, working, or taking summer school, this commitment may be difficult for you to maintain.  We encourage you to apply again in 2024.
  • Once you have completed the online application, please email your vaccination record and at least one teacher recommendation letter to:  [email protected].
  • Your application is not complete until we receive the recommendation letter(s) and your vaccination record.  Vaccines required are on our website.  No exceptions are granted for vaccinations in a health care environment.
  • Correspondence and questions need to come from the student, not the parents. We are looking for mature applicants. 

Professional mentor program 

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING THE COMPLETED APPLICATION IS MAY 19TH,  2023.

  • You must be enrolled in college to apply - and provide verification. 
  • Students must be at least 18 years of age to participate. 
  • This program is for highly motivated college undergraduate students. 
  • Due to the demand for the program, not everyone who applies is guaranteed placement. 
  • Two letters of recommendation are required.
    • These need to be from your current academic year. One of the letters must be from an instructor. The other can be from an employer.
    • Letters of recommendation are to speak to the student's: dependability, academic drive, level of motivation and people skills.
    • Letters are to be emailed directly to:  [email protected].

Adult volunteer program 

Please complete this application if you are 18 years of age or older and are interested in becoming a long-term volunteer at St. Luke's Patients Medical Center. This application is not for summer only volunteers.
