The Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center understands the concerns that patients and their doctors have over radiation exposure, especially from CT (computed tomography) exams. Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center considers patient safety to be a top priority.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is committed to providing clinically diagnostic images at As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) radiation dose.
- When clinically appropriate, we attempt to minimize radiation exposure using radiation-free alternative imaging modalities such as MRI, and ultrasound.
- Our typical dose levels for many CT exams are at or below the published guidelines of the American College of Radiology
- Our board certified radiologist plan CT exams for patients based on patient weight, clinical history, age, and other factors to minimize radiation dose.
