Conducting Research at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center
Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC) supports top-tier clinical research through its collaborations with academic and private practice investigators.
Prior to enrolling participants in any research project conducted at BSLMC, it is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator to obtain both:
- IRB approval from a BSLMC-accepted IRB, and
- Administrative approval from the BSLMC Research Office, and/or
- Review and approval from CommonSpirit Health Research Institute (CSHRI)

BSLMC Application for Administrative Review of Research - Online Application
Effective February 1, 2020 BSLMC applications for administrative review of research and device impact assessment must be submitted via the online system: https://orit.research.bcm.edu/R5T80IF3WH2/BSLMCAdminApplication/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fR5T80IF3WH2%2fBSLMCAdminApplication%2fBSLMCAdminApplication%2fHome%2fHome.aspx.

BSLMC Research Credentialing
Non-clinical, non-BSLMC employees who are involved with any research study at BSLMC must complete the following steps to obtain site access, EPIC & other IT system accesses, and an issuance of a BSLMC badge. Note: BSLMC HR System (Infor) applications expire 60 days from the date of initiation.
For any students (including post-graduate trainees) who are performing any type of observership/training, these requests should be submitted to BSLMC Educational Services. No students should be on-boarded outside of Educational Services. All requests for students should be sent to [email protected]. If approved, the students will be on-boarded via Educational Services.
- Initial Application:
- Submit the following documents to the BSLMC Research Office

- Titer/vaccination/testing is performed at no charge by BCM Occupational Health Program located at Baylor Clinic, Suite 1375, Phone: 713.798.7880
- Negative Drug Screen – performed through BSLMC for no additional cost. Once orders have been completed, you can complete the urine drug screen at a participating Quest location (bring government-issued photo ID with you).
- You will be contacted via email by your assigned Workday Manager for next steps.
- Submit the following documents to the BSLMC Research Office
- Renewal (Annual):
- Once approved, your Workday non-employee contract will be valid for one year. It is your responsibility to renew. Watch for notifications from the Workday system in advance of contract expiration and submit the following prior to expiration for renewal to BSLMC Research Office ([email protected]).
- Immunization Records
- Proof of annual influenza vaccination
- Proof of annual TB testing
- Badge request form (if applicable)
- Email BSLMC Research Office if your BSLMC Epic or other BSLMC IT accesses need to be renewed at this time.
- Once approved, your Workday non-employee contract will be valid for one year. It is your responsibility to renew. Watch for notifications from the Workday system in advance of contract expiration and submit the following prior to expiration for renewal to BSLMC Research Office ([email protected]).
