Traumatic Brain Injuries
A blow or jolt to, or penetration of, the head can cause a traumatic brain injury (TBI). These include skull fractures and bleeding in the brain from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, extradural hematoma, or subdural hematoma. If you witness or experience a traumatic head injury, call 911 immediately.
St. Luke’s Health offers portable CT scanning services, allowing our team to perform head CT scans at the patient's bedside without interruption or removing the patient from the ICU. We also employ Licox® Brain Tissue Oxygenation monitoring to detect early changes in brain oxygen in brain injury patients.
